Simon Webster, had rushed out of his store after McGuigan had attempted to drive off having allegedly reversed her car into the shop wall.
Despite approaching her vehicle, McGuigan is believed to have ignored Mr Webster's pleas and sped off having propelled the shop owner onto the bonnet of her Peugeot 307.

Webster came off into the road suffering a broken shoulder with lacerations to the back of the head and knee.

McGuigan, was eventually caught after police used the CCTV to note the registration number of her vehicle, which led them to her address, where she was arrested.

McGuigan, pleaded guilty to charges of GBH, dangerous driving and failing to stop
after an accident after she drove the wrong way up a street and through a red light with Simon Webster gripping onto her car.

Speaking after her hearing at Bradford Crown Court, she said: 'I am terribly sorry for what I did. It  was out of character for me. I was going through a difficult stage in my life and felt very threatened when Mr Webster came out of the store shouting at me, but I am so sorry.'

Mr Webster said: 'After she left the shop I heard a bang which made all the windows shake and I ran outside to find she had reversed into the building.

'I approached her to point out what she had just done and was greeted by some very choice language indeed, words you wouldn’t hear on Lovejoy.

'I told the lads who work with me to phone the police because I didn’t think she was capable of driving and I stood one foot in front of her car to prevent her driving away, but then she hit the gas and I was knocked onto the bonnet.

'I was clinging on for dear life, but I realised she had no intention of stopping or slowing down and at a tight bend I was thrown onto the road.'

'I was screaming at her to stop but she wouldn’t. I didn’t think she would stop so I had to launch myself off.'

The court heard how McGuigan is on medication and although she drank one can of lager on the day of the accident, she was not over the drink-drive limit.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said: 'While the defendant was in the shop it appeared to those working there that she smelled of intoxicants they were concerned that she was drink driving. Read more
